New Concept for Subaru Impreza Sedan Revealed at Los Angeles Auto Show
The current Impreza has had drivers flocking to dealerships and taking advantage of deals for the exclusive offers on car finances. Perth drivers have shown their enthusiasm for the current model but it appears that even greater things are to come as there has been a new generation Impreza concept sedan revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The 2015 show was anticipated to be the stage for some exciting new developments but even industry experts were pleasantly surprised when Subaru took the opportunity to unveil their new concept.
Los Angeles; The Perfect Venue:
The sedan concept is following hot on the heels of the reveal of the hatchback concept at the October 2015 Tokyo motor show. Subaru’s strategy for using the Los Angeles show for the concept reveal is quite sound. Historically, the North American market has a stronger market for the sedan body style, with some manufacturers limiting their sedan variants to this market specifically. This venue has allowed to gauge interest and place a spotlight firmly on this new model.
According to Subaru officials, the concept “previews themes for the next generation” model. Additionally, the model isn’t just a gauge of what we can expect from the new Impreza, which could be seen here in 2016, but it offers hints of the design direction of the new Impreza and the future Subaru models across the lineup. As anticipated, the changes on the front end of the concept are fairly minimal. The sharp line headlights are still featured but there is a chrome finished grille surround, which does change the overall aesthetic. The bold design of the bumper has remained but there are 19-inch colour tipped alloy wheels to fill the pumped up guards on the sedan.
On the rear, the taillights are almost reminiscent of a Lexus RC coupe. The model also has a sharp silhouette thanks to a duck-tailed high boot lid. The lower bumper has been kept clean and simple which is complement with a single outlet tailpipe. The overall design feels more stylised than the prototype model that was recently spied by motor media.
The car also features a new Subaru colour. Ruby Red Metallic is used to complement the new design and create a “sporty and energetic character”. While the vehicle may look fairly large, the concept only measures 4555 millimetres long, which is 30 millimetres shorter than the current production sedan. However, the concept is 140 millimetres wider than the production model at 1880 millimetres. The model rides on a wheelbase, which at 2670 millimetres is 25 millimetres longer than the current model. This should provide a more generous cabin and greater drive experience with a more planted ride. This should create an even more attractive production vehicle, which is sure to be a hit with Subaru fans around the world.
