A Brief Guide to the New Subaru Liberty 2.5i Premium

If you are considering a new Subaru Liberty, you are likely to be interested in a 2016 Subaru Liberty review. While many reviews will concentrate on the base model and top of the line, the mid range 2.5i Premium also has a lot to offer.

New Subaru Liberty:

The whole range has had an update for 2016. The new Subaru Liberty is now includes two new features on the EyeSight system, revised and revised suspension. The sedan only model is only offered with a six speed Continuously Variable Transmission, but there are two engine options; a flat four 2.5 litre and a flat six 3.6 litre engine.

The New Equipment:

The MY16 new Liberty 2.5i Premium has had a “safety” update which has added a whole range of new equipment and features worth approximately $500. Standard equipment includes 18 inch alloys with full sized alloy spare wheel, power mirrors and windows, sunroof, dark tinted rear glass, automatic wipers and LED headlights, keyless entry, climate control, reversing camera, eight way electric driver and front passenger seats and seven inch infotainment system with sat nav. The model is also available with metallic paint as a no additional cost option.

If you have read a Subaru Liberty review about the fifth generation model, you are likely to be aware that the design was loved or hated. However, the sixth generation model has returned to a sleek profile and classy aesthetics you would expect from a Liberty.

Inside the cabin, there have been some minor changes in the MY16 model. The subtle changes, while not immediately apparent have improved the overall aesthetics. The materials and trim pieces have all been delicately revised to lift the feel of the interior. There is also lots of storage including a large glove box, door pockets, cupholders and central console to complement the massive 493 litre boot and ensure that all your belongings are neatly hidden away.

Safety Upgrade:

The safety package on the new Liberty is now even more impressive. The model features seven airbags, including a driver’s knee bag, blind spot monitoring, reverse camera, stability and traction control, rear cross traffic alert, forward collision monitor and lane departure warning. All of this safety equipment has contributed to a maximum ANCAP rating of five stars.

The flat four 2.5 litre engine delivers excellent performance. It provides 129 kW of power without a turbocharger. However, this power has not been accomplished by sacrificing fuel economy. The combined cycle figures are 7.3 litres per 100 kilometres. Despite the fact that the model weighs a hefty 1568 kilograms, it has a zero to 100 kilometres time of 9.6 seconds.
