5 Reasons to Buy a Subaru WRX Rather Than a Subaru WRX STi

5 Reasons to Buy a Subaru WRX Rather Than a Subaru WRX STi

If you are in the market for a Subaru WRX, you may have considered whether you should buy a Subaru WRX for sale or a Subaru WRX STi. There are some major differences between these two models and here are five reasons why you should consider the WRX.

The Subaru WRX is Sportier:

When you compare the Subaru WRX and the Subaru WRX STi, it becomes apparent that the designers had separate goals for these two models. While the WRX STi has a focus on a hard performance edge, with the Subaru WRX, Perth drivers will get a sportier model. The WRX features a new design and has the option of automatic CVT or continuously variable transmission previously seen on the Impreza. The STi model is only available with a manual six speed gearbox.

The Subaru WRX Has a More Attractive Price:

Although price should not be the only deciding factor when choosing a new car, your budget is obviously important. The entry level Subaru WRX with a six speed manual transmission is available from $38,990, with the CVT option adding $2,000. There is also a premium variant for an additional $5,000. However, the WRX STi has a starting price of $49,990 with no CVT option. This means that unless you intend to push your new WRX with very challenging road conditions, the standard WRX model could be yours for $10,000 less than the Subaru WRX STi.

The Aesthetics Are Similar:

We all want a car that looks great and both the Subaru WRX and the STi variant have similar aesthetics. The lines and scoop of the bonnet look far more eye-catching than the more subtle new Impreza. The main difference between the two models aesthetically is that the STi features badging and a boot lid spoiler, although this can be removed for no additional charge.

The WRX Still Offers Plenty of Toys:

Inside the cabin, you will find that there are plenty of toys in both models. The chunky D shaped steering wheel feels comfortable and adds to the driving experience. The premium variants offer satellite navigation, colour touchscreen and Harman Kardon stereo. There is also a colour screen for the torque distribution indicator, trip computer and digital boost gauge. Even if you opt for the base model WRX you will not feel like you are missing out on gadgets and toys.

Keener Fuel Economy:

Unfortunately,  one of the realities of choosing a new car is the fuel economy. With the rising cost of fuel, most drivers are concerned with keeping their driving expenses under control. The integration of the CVT system is that the torque is optimised for optimum performance and fuel economy. The 2.0 Litre WRX engine delivers 197kW of power which can deliver zero to 100 kilometres per hour in just six seconds. While the six speed fuel consumption is 9.2 litres per 100 kilometres, the CVT can shave this down to 8.6 litres.
